This vehicle is simply stupid fast. I love the car. I have had a chance to ride in this, but never drive it.
The most expensive car I ever drove was a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabrio B. It was admittedly more expensive than the SLR, but lacked nice features, like disc brakes or a synchroniyzed gearbox (yup, double clutching with a $1.2M vehicle. Even better was getting it out of overdrive).
I actually got to sit in the original SLRs – the F1 car that won the Mille Miglia in 1955 (Stirling Moss), and the Uhlenhaut Coupe which was the race car used as the personal car of MBs head of engineering.
Anyway, I guess this gives away the German car company I work for.
